Who the hell is reading this blog?

questionmark

I have a decent number of RSS followers of my personal blog here. I don’t update it nearly as often as I would like to though. Sometimes I think about just taking it down, but no reason as long as nobody minds the infrequent updates. Today I was checking out my image gallery of photos I sent to Twitter with Tweetie and I was wondering just who follows me here.

Leave me a comment and tell me how you follow this blog. Are you a family member, a friend from the Navy or School, someone I played a video game with, a website follower, etc… I am sure there is a mix of a few of those groups, but just wondering.

Leave me a comment!

Testing Something

falconshe2 Disregard this gibberish posting.

Sorry WinMo faithful, I am spending some time with my iPhone 3GS now. In my defense, I spent the weekend with the Tilt 2 and my software tour video is being uploaded as I type this. Anyhow, this morning, I did my 9th review of an iPhone app and I have done 1 video review. The review this morning is part of my “50 Apps in 50 Days” series.

I have done a number of videos already too, check them out too.

One other note as well, I am looking for some people to contribute over at iPhoneMVP.com!

I am almost done with site refreshes… Uniformity FTW?

sites

I decided to make upgrades on my blogs more easy by putting the same theme to work on all of them. I am very close to completion. Slowly but surely… Next task is updating, redesigning, and unifying forums.

Wish me luck.

ChrisLeckness.com Updated – Gathering Social Media Links

facebookpic Since social media has taken over the web, many personal blogs are rendered useless. Many that have their own blog seem to have let them go. it’s too easy just to post something on Twitter or Facebook now and personal blogs get ignored. I know this all too well as I have also fallen victim to this trend. I don’t want to let the usefulness of a personal blog die, so I am going to try to use mine more.

In order to make that work, I decided to bring all the social media aspects I use to the blog. I have tons of info being streamed into here now. In addition, I decided to drop the cheesy (even though it’s true) tagline that I have cherished… “Incoherent Ramblings of a Redneck Tech Geek”.

Lastly, I have updated the look of the blog to share the looks of some sites you might have seen before. Hehe… I like it now. It’s comfy and familiar.

Thanks Microsoft – Best MVP Award Yet

I don’t think I have tooted my own horn in years, especially about being re-awarded the Microsoft MVP Award in Mobile Devices. Last year, I took on the Zune MVP title, but requested to be moved back to Mobile Devices mid flight. Well, anyhow, this year on April 1st, I was re-awarded again and like I said, normally I wouldn’t say anything, but this year I want to share this beautiful piece of hardware I got.

MVP-Award-015

This is the best award I have gotten in 5 years. I absolutely love it, it is awesome! Thanks Microsoft.

Chris Leckness Redesigned

The old layout was a little confusing and this one is kinda familiar to many. :)

In my attempt at trying to be more open and outgoing with folks online, I have started using Twitter and Facebook again. In addition, I plan to start using my personal blog a bit more now.

I have a lot of updates to do to some of the static content here, but for the most part it’s here. Anyone know of any plugins out there that I am not using and maybe I should?

Where in the Hell is Chris?

I haven’t posted on this blog in quite some time. I also haven’t done much on twitter, facebook, or Linkedin either. Am I dead? No. I have been spending less and less time online than I used to.

If you are reading this, you fall probably fall in 1 of 3 categories, a friend or family members, a reader of Aximsite or Mobilitysite (or another spinoff), or just happened to come across it searching google for something I’ve ranted about. This post today is directed mainly at those in groups 1 and 2.

Why have I been offline more often than not lately? Mainly, changes in priorities, changes in hobbies, and just kind of busy too.

I started Aximsite as a hobby. I never expected it to get to the level it reached. Now that Axim is dead, the move to Mobilitysite has been somewhat successful. We average 1.3 – 1.5 million visitors a month. That’s not what this is all about to me. When it was purely a hobby, I really enjoyed knowing that I helped someone. We did a lot of that at Aximsite. In order to shift with the times and continue to have a readership, I had to shift gears. I enjoy the subjects we cover at Mobilitysite, but at the same time, I have grown somewhat bored with it all. It’s the same old same old, over and over now. Sometimes maintaining the site is more work than it is fun. It’s no longer a feasible hobby.

I am not quitting. I am just explaining why I am absent in other mediums like this blog and twitter.

Thanks for reading and sorry for not posting often here.

Wordpress 2.7 Installed

I spent some time this weekend updating Mobilitysite and this blog to WP 2.7. For Mobilitysite, it was a huge leap and is much better. For this blog, it’s a minor leap. The admin interface is going to take time to get used to, but the added features are awesome.

The Story Behind 2.7

The real reason Coltrane is such a huge leap forward is because the community was so involved with every step of the process. Over 150 people contributed code directly to the release, our highest ever, with many tens of thousands more participating in the polls, surveys, tests, mailing lists, and other feedback mechanisms the WordPress dev team used in putting this release together.

If you run a Wordpress Blog, I recommend it.
