Nintendo is really beginning to piss me off…
Oct 23rd
Let me preface this rant by saying that I used to be a pretty avid console gamer before I fell into “Everquest” and then “World of Warcraft”. I don’t play either anymore, but I still don’t game a lot on consoles. I have had the Atari, Sega Genesis, The original Nintendo, Playstation, Game Cube, Xbox, Xbox 360, and now my 3rd Wii, YES 3rd. That’s why I am pissed.
When the Wii was released, I ended up getting rid of the Xbox 360 and moving towards the Wii for a better selection of games for my kids. (now 16 and 7) The Wii was great for a while. 6 months later, I got into a situation where it would stop reading disks. I thought initially that my son was ruining the disks with his poor handling, but I realized it wasn’t that. Brand new disk, old scratched disks, whatever… they wouldn’t play. I called Nintendo and they walked me through some stuff to try. All came up empty, so they replaced it with other console. So a week goes by, no Wii for the kids, no biggie. The new one (or probably refurbed) came in and we were back to the races.
3 months after getting the replacement Wii, the same thing started happening again. This time I was sure it wasn’t my son since he started to learn to take care of his games after the 1st incident since I used that opportunity to make him feel as if he caused the problem by leaving disks out everywhere, etc… It happened on a weekend, just after my wife rented a couple games for them. Instead of saying, “wait until monday and I will call Nintendo again”, I said, “F it” and went out and bought another brand new Wii. All was fine once again.
3 months later, AGAIN… the same freaking problem. Being too lazy to call and go through the hassle of swapping, I bought our 3rd Wii. That was 6 months ago. Guess what…
YEP… AGAIN! I am getting really pissed off and it’s taking ever ounce of my control to type clean words instead of what I am feeling right now. I am going to get a little work done here today, but I hope to get a block of time to call Nintendo today. If I can’t find resolve, I have about 50-60 Wii games I will be selling, so watch out here for that announcement. I will probably sell them direct rather than on ebay. If I leave Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360? I am leaning 360 since I have 4-5 games that I forgot I had when we got rid of the 360 initially.
Damn you Nintendo. Make a good product please. Ok, wait, the Wii is a good product, what I mean is make a dependable product. I have talked to others that say they have had this issue too.

Forgot to leave this there…

This one was in the laundry today. Darn.
I gotta get this! Wii Boxing Gloves.
Sep 24th
My son will absolutely love these. I think I might too! I would post this over at Mobilitysite, but trying to stay on topic over there.
Seriously. I do think I am gonna grab these. It’s not just me wanting to post the girl pic above, honest. They need to make a game for the Wii that lets my son practice his Taekwondo too. He loves boxing on Wii Sports though.

Xbox 360 and 8 Games? Ebay?
Jun 18th
Since the only game my kids play on the 360 is Star Wars Legos II and I haven’t played once in the last 3 months, it’s time to ship it off to someone that wants to enjoy the Xbox 360. It kicks the crap out of the Nintendo Wii, but the Wii has a bunch of games that my kids can play.
Anyhow, should I sell it or will I have regrets later? I got over 800 bones rolled into the 360, I’d hate to let that rot away into the land of obsolete. Ebay? How much should I sell for?
Do you care what I have to say?

On Tax Day, April 15th, 2007, I will choose 2 winners randomly to receive their choice of games. To enter, just leave a comment and make sure to tell me which game you want.
Does anyone dabble in World of Warcraft?
Feb 12th
Do any of you play WoW? I play here and there for stress relief. I used to be into EQ Hardcore. Raiding nightly, had an almost end game character, etc… I was obsessed and it wasn’t healthy. I have quit EQ. What is different about WoW? It’s the very same in ways, but in other ways it’s more versitile. I can play by myself without relying on anyone else. I can play PvP (Player vs. Player) battles when I desire and don’t require me to devote hours of my time at once. I can get a little gametime in and move on.
If you play, check out my level 39 Feral Druid. He crit ravages in the 600-800hp range. I have been level 39 for a month and don’t think I am going to level up any more for a while. I am very content at this level and I am a beast in the BG. (literally)
Check out my goods below. Any recommendations? When I am in Tauren form, I have almost 180 INT too. Oh btw, check out my name!!!!
Doing the PC Shuffle, Leckness Style
Jan 24th
I had a long night of PC moving, cleaning, and setting up tonight. Just the other day, I decided it was time to keep my son off my work PC, the one I do most of my website work on. He has all these cool games to play and it does two things that I don’t like. It makes this PC less accessable (I sometimes just can’t kick him off!) and it also puts a bunch of crap I don’t want on here. When I returned from CES and this 3.4gig P4 with 2gig of RAM couldn’t even process a webpage, let alone open photoshop, it was time to “Just say no”.
So, to let the 4 year old get all the education and entertainment he deserves, I took my daughter’s 2.5g P4 out of her room and put it in his. Now my daughter is 13 and needs a PC (no internet connection though) for school work, etc. I ended up giving her my new entertainment PC. It’s an HP Dual Core AMD 4500+ machine with a 22″ LCD. She just doesn’t know how much power she just jumped up to there.
Mom is still content with her petite little Dell Laptop. I forgot the model, but it’s like 2/3 the size of my smallest laptop.
What about Dad? Well, I orded a new game/entertainment machine! There goes my Vegas winnings and my OQO2, but it was time to get a beefy machine to do business!
This is my new toy….
A Dell XPS System. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB) with 2MB cache, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 22 in (22 in viewable) E228WFPWide Aspect Digital Flat Panel, 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS, 250g Datasafe Hard Drive, and Vista. This thing should smoke my daughter’s AMD Dual Core machine!
Next up, the in-laws. They don’t use their computer often, but that may be the fact that they are using my old P3 machine that is 5 years old now!
Viva Tony!
Jan 19th
Viva Tony for sending me Viva Pinata!
My son sure loves this game, but it’s a tough one for a 4 year old. Luckily we have modern gaming that allows for voice and animation, it really helps understand the game a ton!
One warning to parents, you WILL HAVE TO PLAY too with young ones. I don’t enjoy these type games, but it is fun to make my son happy.
“Viva Piñata™ is a window to another world where wild-roaming, living piñata animals inhabit a growing, changing garden world. Take control of this environment and the piñata within it, influencing its contents to create your very own pet paradise.
Once you have resident piñatas, begin to personalize your loyal community. Piñatas can be individually named and given their own personally designed tag to put on display as a declaration of their home turf. The customization doesn’t end there. Make the colorful critters more distinctive by customizing them with all kinds of costumes and accessories.”
Strippers in Star Wars Legos II
Jan 13th
Maybe she’s not a stripper, but I was floored when I saw my son using a toon that was wearing a thong and dancing like a stripper. I think this is one of the girls that are entertaining Jabba the Hut, but still…haha
Not really complaining about the game here, just thought it was hillarious.
