Silent Praise – YouTube Milestones

This is kind of personal in nature, it relates to Mobilitysite as a whole, but i’d rather toot my horn over here on my personal blog. Not that it’s not a worthy accomplishment, but I am staying low key pending my choices I am making regarding the future. On to the show…

Over at JKontheRun the other day, James Kendrick was commenting on how their videos reached the 250,000 view milestone. This is an awesome milestone too. I am sure James and Kevin will exceed 1 million soon!

Well, I have a personal Youtube account that has maybe 3-4 videos totaling maybe 25 views… My Soapbox Account has just a few more and a removed video due to copyright BS… but the account I set up for Mobilitysite a little over a year ago now has 101 videos. I uploaded the 100th and 101st today. Yesterday the total Video Views hit 1,000,000. Right now, that would be 1,003,503 views. That’s pretty decent I think. It’s not the views that I am impressed with though. It’s the number of subscribers to the Mobilitysite Channel (898) and the great comments that make this fun. I can ignore the asswipe comments that point out the little mistakes i’ve made. I can ignore the insulting, “who the fuck is this dumb ass redneck” comments. My eyes have learned to filter these counterproductive comments that are made by people that have nothing to do but critique others.

I am going to take a bit of time here and answer a bunch of the Channel Comments I have had an never had a chance to reply to right here after the break.

Here are my replies to many of the comments left on the Mobilitysite YouTube Profile Page. I’ll start with the oldest. I am going to email all these folks and let them know I answered here. Easier than on the YouTube Page.

That is something that I have tried to do. I think that rehearsing is almost like doing a commercial. I like to show how easy or hard something is to power on and operate right out of the box.

really nice videos. it was cool to see the zune before i got it. i got a question about the zune; how do i add movies to it? i put the dvd in my computer, but i’m not sure on how to rip it. do i need a dvd ripper to add the movies to my zune? when i rip them, are they in the right format as well? one last question, how much space does one movie take? keep on making the videos, cause their pretty entertaining. – clouddrive | January 06, 2007

I did a couple reviews on regular earphones, but really it’s tough to do them. What can I say to share how good they are without out plugging them into your ear. I got these at a conference for free and they are the best I have. I have payed for 3 other high end sets and these cost less ($250) than one pair I paid for (on sale).

I would, but I can only review what I can get my hands on. I buy a lot, but I also rely on the generosity of the carriers and manufacturers to provide review units. So, I can’t always get everything.

The Zune in my opinion sucks. Because of the following:
1: Cannot be used as an external hard drive for your computer
2: Does not play video games and you can’t download games to it
3: Reads less video and audio formats than the ipod
4: It’s bigger than a boom box plus it has an unsexy design
5: nobody has it plus nobody will ever want it.
6: in my opinion the screen looks retarded, it’s like for blind people, the screen is so big that makes the player look bad.
I think that you should instead get rid of your zune.

I have a Zune and I like it better than my Ipod. Thanks blessed56, I was extremely busy during this timeframe. Sadly, I never got past the picture taking process on the Treo 755p and had to return it before I could get any furthur. If it makes a difference now, I didn’t like it much. Great form factor, but I have a hard time using Palm’s OS.

I just saw your video about how typing on the iphone is a problem. I just read that you can turn your iphone landscape and it makes the keys bigger and gives a little more space in between each one, so you might try that and see if that makes any difference. That helped a lot. I started using that method. In fact, I got pretty decent with my little fat fingers. The auto word thing is pretty nice.

I didn’t really like the Touch and I got my review model just before the iPhone. The iPhone came along and I neglected the Touch. I would like to get my hands on another though. I subsidized the purchase of the Touch and the iPod Classic 80 for a couple of my staff members. One of them got a new job and hasn’t contributed much anymore, the other is working on the Classic 80 review now. I have since bought a classic 80 as well for comparison with the Zune 80. I had a hard time believing the 45 hour battery life claim by Cnet. I only got 35… which is pretty damn good compared to the 22 I got from the Zune 80 though.

Mobilitysite is somewhat Windows Mobile Centric and we tried expanding the coverage, but it’s really tough to spread out so much. I wouldn’t do any Blackberries justice.

True True… I’ve used one and it really is a nice device. $399 for such a small storage size bites, but getting to the store via WiFi is pretty awesome. I personally would rather recommend the iPhone than the Touch though. (especially if you can unlock it)

There are only a few docks for Zunes. The gen 1 and gen 2 Zune Branded docks are the best though. If you got a flash Zune or a Zune 80, go with the square gen 2.
